Each building can also be upgraded. Upgrading a building requires a certain amount of gold as well as a specific assortment of crafted items, and each upgrade will allow you to earn you more coins each time that you collect or restock. Items can be crafted using the “craft” icon in the lower left corner of the main screen.

Now onto the battles. You have a list of heroes that you begin the game with. Go outside of your town and tap on one of the monsters. You can choose as few as one hero, or an entire party of heroes, and send them into battle. It costs 100 gold to send one hero, 200 gold for two heroes, 500 gold for three heroes, and 1,000 gold for four heroes, and so on and so forth.

When you are in the battle, your heroes and the monster will trade blows until either the monster dies, or your heroes lose all of their health. If your heroes lose all of their health, it will take one hour for them to make a full recovery and for you to be able to use them in battle again. If they win, it will still take time for them to recover their health, but less than an hour, and you can use them in battle again before they recover.

Your heroes don’t gain experience levels, so their stats are entirely dependent upon their equipment. You have three types of equipment you can buy: weapons, armor, and shields, which determine your attack, health, and defense, respectively (although all three determine your hero’s luck). Hats are also counted as equipment, though they don’t change your hero’s stats at all.

Boxes that you can purchase for gold include the starter, great, and legendary boxes. Diamonds, which are the premium currency of the game, are used to purchase the epic and ultimate boxes. Upgrading your equipment is done by merging sacrificial equipment into your gaining equipment. This will improve the gaining equipment’s experience level, and when a level is gained, the statistics will increase. Some heavy upgrading can power up your equipment massively – even a starter piece of equipment can be stronger than an epic or legendary piece of equipment with enough upgrades.

New heroes can be unlocked inside of your town. Whenever you see a townsperson with a pop up bubble with a face in it over their head, you can tap them to see their requirements. If you meet all of their requirements, and you have enough gold to hire them, tap them again and they will join your party.
