Take food with you when you sail off to a new island to explore it. Use the food to re-energize your animals, so that you can explore everything that it’s possible (at the time) to explore on the island. If you don’t have enough food, grow some more blueberries and then harvest them before you sail off.

Trees and rocks are impossible to clear until you unlock the right types of animals to clear them. The mysterious trapped animal (AKA: Otto the Panda) in the Arctic Isles is the first animal that you can use to clear trees and rocks. Once you unlock the mysterious animal, take it back to the Arctic Isles and start exploring and opening the chests that you didn’t get to before.

If you explore around the clouded areas on the map, you’ll often see some tall building or temple or other assorted artifact sticking up above the clouds. When you do, tap on it and you’ll see a description, and sometimes even a hint on what you have to do in order to get to that area, or the next area. In addition, if you tap the animal residence areas with clouds over them, they will tell you exactly what you have to complete in order to unlock them.

You don’t have to expand into every single territory that has an “expand” sign if you don’t want to waste leaves. If you don’t plan to spend crystals on the extra animals in each territory, then there’s no need to buy home spaces for them. Plus, if one expandable territory doesn’t have any homes on it, then expanding to it would be absolutely pointless unless you need an extra expansion to complete a quest.

Explore around your home island to find some surprises. For example, the Berry Bush is surrounded by rocks. Once you are able to clear out the rocks blocking it and get to it, you’ll be able to grow raspberries. Look for other surprises like this inside of expandable areas, also.
