At random times, thieves will break into your art museum and steal your art when you’re away from the game. One way to stop them is to leave your phone’s auto-sleep off and the game active when you’re asleep, but that’s not always practical.
Other than that, the main way to stop them (and this only works for one art installation at a time) is to place a caretaker whose specialty is to stop thieves. There are various rarities of caretakers whose job is to stop thieves.
The rarest one of all (and the rarest caretaker of all in general) is the six-star Zeus, who stops thieves 40% of the time. One-star guards (the ones with the cop hats) protect them 5%. Two-star guards give 10% protection. Three-star guards give 15% protection. Four-star guards give 20% protection. Five-star guards give 30% protection.
As you make more money, you can buy better and better artifacts. Your first auction house is at Gritty’s where the artifacts have a lower market value. Your second is Sodabee’s, where more expensive artifacts are. The third and by far the most expensive is Dolton’s Emporium.
Generally, the more expensive artifacts pay better when you place them into their spots, but this is not always true. You have to look at how much it earns when it’s at level one.
This will be an indicator for how it fares as you level it up. The higher the income, the more it will make per level, too. And of course, look at how long it takes to max out.
Before you go to one of the more expensive auction houses, be sure to have at least five times the amount of money as the given market value of the auction house. If a bidding war breaks out, you don’t want to be caught on the losing end of the auction or you’ll leave empty-handed.
If you do get outbid, though, you can always go back to the same auction house and bid on the same artifact later. Each auction house has a total of nine artifacts, and you can bid on all of them until you get them.
If you somehow accidentally buy a fake, you’ll still be able to recover your money, because your museum is insured against fakes. You have the choice of watching an ad video, or spending two diamonds, and you’ll get all of your money back.
That’s not the only way to get new artifacts, either. Your caretaker quests often involve sending someone out on an artifact quest. Give them money, send them out, and they’ll possibly come back with a new artifact.
If they fail in their quest to get the artifact, you’ll have two choices. You’ll either be able to get a full refund from them, for free, or you can send them back out by watching an ad video. This requires an internet connection, obviously, but you have a good chance of getting that artifact the second or third time.
