Bombcats is a new “fling stuff” puzzle game for the iPhone and iPad published by Chillingo. Even amongst all of the other “fling stuff” games for the iOS platform, especially the multitude that Chillingo publishes, this one stands out as being extra weird, yet very fun due to all of the methods of gameplay that you can uncover in this game. Your goal is to free all of the trapped bombcats from their cages, and collect all three suns in each world, and by doing this you can unlock more stages and new power ups. Read on for tips and tricks for Bombcats!
Before you launch the very first bombcat in each stage, use your finger to move the camera around and scan around the stage, to figure out the position of all of the trapped cats and the suns in order to plan out your shot. Most of the time, when you begin the stage you won’t be able to see them from the starting point, but by scanning around you will be able to see them and plan out your shot.
This is especially important for the marathon stages, because you can map out where you want to send each shot before you take it, and it’s very difficult to launch your cat a far enough distance to earn three stars. In fact, for most of them you will need to buy power ups in order to score the three suns, but you can get two suns without power ups if you plan it out correctly.
If you are stuck on a stage and you can’t get any further, go back to old stages that you have previously beaten, and play them again and again to earn more gems, so that you can buy power ups and upgrades. Upgrades are the most highly recommended because they last forever, but power ups are good for beating a tough stage that you’ll never have to beat again – unless you’re trying to play it again to earn more suns.
All you have to do to get the maximum score on each stage is to hit the three suns – if the gems are out of the way, ignore the gems and concentrate on the suns, unless you’re playing the stage for the express purpose of getting the gems. Tap the button in the lower right corner to detonate your cat when you’re near the cat cages, though, so that you don’t miss the trapped cat. And if there are multiple trapped cats in a row, often, the first cat will roll downwards and detonate itself near the bottom cage, thus freeing the second cat for you.
