As always in this game, you get five lives, and when you lose at a level, one of your lives will go away. When it does, it will take a half an hour for your life to come back. When all of your lives run out, it takes two and a half hours, or you can ask people on Facebook for lives back. If you need to find people to add, go to the comment section on this article or the review pages on the App Store to see if people have posted their info.
Otherwise, another way to get free energy back, of course, is to set the time ahead on your phone or tablet. Do that, and then go back to the game and your lives will be restored. This trick may stop working after you connect the game to your Facebook game, but as of the moment of this writing, there is no Facebook browser version of the game, so keep doing this trick to your heart’s content.
Use all of the tricks at your disposal from the past two games. For example, match four in a row to get a line-clearing candy. Five in a row gives you a sprinkle candy that knocks off all of one color, and five in an L-formation gives you a wrapped bomb-candy. Four candies in a square gives you the fish candy. Mixing two of the special candies gives you a mixture of effects, I.E. Mixing a fish and a line-clearing candy gives you a fish that clears an entire line adjacent to its target spot.
When you’re spreading jelly, at least one of the spots in the origin a combo has to have a piece of your jelly on it. So if you make a combination without any jelly on it, nothing will spread. Even worse, if you make a combination with one of the originating pieces being in the queen’s jelly, you’ll spread HER jelly instead.
Try to make as many special pieces as you can, but try to save them for when you need them. This will be different depending on the specific challenges of each level. For example, in levels that aren’t against the queen, you’ll be more easily able to save them up so that you can mix them. On the levels where you battle the queen, you will want to use them as quickly as possible to spread jelly quickly.
