Crossy Road is a new endless hopping game for the iOS and Android by Hipster Whale. You play as either a chicken or a number of other animal mascots that star in this game (including such easter eggs as Doge and Pew Die Pie’s dog), and your goal is simply to score as many points as possible by bringing back your old Frogger skills. Read on for some tips and tricks for Crossy Road!
Every few minutes, you will earn a free gift box of coins, which can then be used to purchase new animals that you can play with. It takes longer to get the gift box after every gift, though. Keep coming back over and over for more of these boxes, and also keep a look out for coins sitting on the ground in each stage that you play.
The stages start off easy, but they get more and more difficult as you score more points, so take care to make sure that you are jumping at just the right time, and when you need to, tapping as fast as you can to pull off the perfect jumps. The farther you get, the harder it gets and the more careful you need to be.
The bird is one of the more frustrating ways to die. Jump fast and frequently to avoid getting caught by the bird, because if you sit in one place for too long the bird will come and snatch you, causing you to lose the stage instantly. Once the bird appears on the screen you literally cannot avoid it. All that you can do to prevent it coming is to not stay in one spot for too long.
Some animals you can purchase for paying real life money; if you want to earn them for free you will have to do so by collecting coins within the game. Keep spending coins on the prize box to unlock more animals, but don’t be surprised if accidentally unlock some repeat animals, as well. Unfortunately, unlocking repeat animals does nothing for you. No bonus or leveled up version of the animal
You get one point for every step forward that you make (every tap that you do). You won’t get any points, unfortunately, for swiping to the side; however, you do get points for tapping. There’s no need to swipe up to move forward. Just tap the screen and you’ll be good to do. Swipe down, though, and your character will move backward (this is necessary if you end up stuck behind trees on the left, right and top).
