Fallen London is an interactive story game for the iOS and Android platforms, as well as for browser platforms. This absolutely massive story puts you into a London that has been taken over by the forces of hell. The decisions you make can effect various attributes of yours, and earn you fate and new stories. Read on for some tips and tricks for Fallen London!
You’ll have some quests that are extremely difficult, and others that are rather easy. Start off with the easy ones so that you can build up your statistics to complete the difficult ones. For example, you can’t talk your way into getting a house yet, so hit The Singing Mandrake to upgrade your Persuasive until you can.
You can still boost your stats even if you fail a tough story. Usually the tough ones will boost your numbers even more quickly than the easy ones will. However, you’ll incur negative effects, or menaces, if you fail a challenge too many times. For example, fail a Persuasive challenge too many times and you will get Scandal. If you Scandal level goes high enough, you’ll get booted out of Fallen London until it’s back down to 0.
Each time you make a move, you use an action. Once your actions run down to 0, you either have to wait for them to return, or buy more actions using Fate, which is the premium currency of the game. Tap on the actions candle and sync your character to see the actions that you’ve recovered, or close out of the game and then open it again, because they don’t show up automatically.
Opportunity cards are used when you engage in a “Sometimes” quest, whereas “Always” quests only require you to spend an action. If you use all of them, wait for 10 minutes per card slot that you need filled, then sync again to gain more cards.
Hit the compass icon in the upper right corner of the screen to go to a map of London. Zoom out and explore around the map, and go to different areas, and you will find different quests and story arcs that you can engage in. This is a good way to find more diverse challenges that boost stats that might be underutilized.
