FIFA 2015 Ultimate Team is EA’s newest entry into the long-storied footy/soccer franchise. This free-to-play iOS and Android edition shockingly does away with any form of “energy” allowing you to play endlessly, and like previous entries into the series, it still allows you to customize and build a team using a nearly endless assortment of players. Read on for some tips and tricks for FIFA 2015 Ultimate Team!
The thing that is typically the most difficult and cerebral to figure out is how to construct your team correctly, and how to make it the best team out of anything you can muster. Once you unlock the initial flood of bonus card packs, create a new squad, because it’s too time-consuming to try to mess with your starting squad. Pick a formation, then start searching by position.
Fill up everything as best you can. Match players to their positions for a position bonus, and match players by nationality for a chemistry bonus. If you have a position that’s unfilled by any of your players, pick the closest substitute statistically (like a CM instead of an LM). Change your formation, too, to fit what positions you have a surplus of top players in.
Use the transfer market to get rid of any player that you don’t want, because with so many formation types, somebody out there will take them off of your hands. Hell, you can even buy the low-bid players if you think they are undervalued, then auction them off for a higher price and make a profit. Do this over and over to trade your way to your ultimate team.
Almost everything can be messed with in the options menu, so fine tune the game to be exactly how you want it. You can change everything from the difficulty to the controls (classic or casual, plus the button layout), the camera angle and camera height (necessary depending on what device you play the game on and whether it’s a phone, tablet or phablet) and even the half length, for if you want to play a quick game (two minute halves) or a longer game (ten minute halves).
The great thing about FIFA 15 is that it’s so open-ended, but if you want to get a sense of direction going, complete the active objectives, one after the other. Not only will they teach you what to do and where to go next, but you’ll earn loads of gold, card packs, and FIFA points as rewards for completing the objectives.
