Flappy Wings is possibly the best of the Flappy Bird clones so far. Its physics are almost the same as the first edition of the the game, before the update smoothed things out, meaning that it’s slightly more difficult than the final edition. The graphics give a reminder of Super Mario World, for those retro 16-bit fans. There is even a coin collection system in the game. Read on for some tips and tricks for Flappy Wings!
After you die a few times, a popup will appear saying that you can unlock all birds if you rate the game. Follow the prompt, but when you go to the App Store, you won’t HAVE to rate the game. Even if you just go to the App Store and then go right back to the game, you’ll get all of the different bird colors.
You get one coin for every point to get. Right now, though, there is nothing to spend the coins on, so expect the developers to add some kind of shop or something later on down the road, or maybe even in-app purchases, since this game doesn’t run advertisements.
Bounce at around 100 BPM to keep your bird on an even course, or find a good song rhythm to put in your head for bouncing the bird. A good song is the song “I’m Just a Girl” by No Doubt, for all of you 90’s kids out there. Youtube it if you haven’t heard the song. Bounce your bird to the beat of the song, making adjustments as you need to for the pipes, and you’ll score high.
Unlike other clones where you aim towards the bottom of the pipe opening, this game’s pipes are VERY unforgiving, but the openings are fairly large. Try to aim for the bottom half of the coin inside each pipe for your bounces, or to stay on the same horizontal path. Make small adjustments as needed.
You get a number of different trophies in Flappy Wings. At 10 points you’ll earn a steel trophy. Bronze comes at 20 points, silver at 30 points, gold at 40 points and platinum at 50 points. Practice as often as possible in order to maximize your chance at earning them, but make sure you relax and take a break when you need to.
