Gears POP! Is a new iOS and Android card-battling game featuring the Gears of War characters, but in Funko POP! Guise, playing in battles akin to Clash Royale. Your goal is to destroy your enemy’s three towers before they destroy yours, and with that comes a significant amount of strategy.
Your goal is to build the best deck possible, to be able to fight off your enemy’s attacks, and then to destroy their towers. You can earn coins and crystals, open boxes to upgrade your cards, and build any number of loadouts and decks in order to dominate your opponents.
Read on for some tips and tricks for Gears POP!
Deck building in this game is both an art and a science. You, of course, want to have the rarest and most powerful cards at your disposal, but the main thing is that you want to have a balanced mix of cards. That primarily means you want cards that cost both a lot and a little to deploy.
Some cards will cost 5 energy to deploy – these will usually be your tanks and your heavy defenders. Send them out, but also send out cheaper cards behind them. The cheaper cards will overwhelm with numbers and will deal lots of damage, but if they are behind the tanks, they’ll be able to stay on the board for awhile.
Don’t just add character cards to your group. Add grenades and other “spell” cards, too, so that you can get quick advantages whenever the enemy tries to attack you. Launch grenades especially when you need to take out large groups of weak enemies. For singular tanks, send out your troops in the same lane that they’re in.
Try to send out your troop cards in the same lane that the enemy sends them out in, so that you can play both defense and offense. If no rival troop cards are out, pick a lane and flood it with your choice of cards.
Unlike in most games of this type, you can unlock multiple boxes at once. Always fill all four of your box slots with boxes. Check back when the unlock time is up, so that you can open them all at once. Then play many multiplayer rounds so that you can get even more boxes.
Not only do you get coins with each box, but you also get new cards, and duplicates of cards that you already have. Use the duplicates to upgrade your cards. Upgrades increase all of their statistics (stats depend on the type of card that you have); these will keep them competitive in battle.
Knowledge of your cards and how to use them is most of the battle. Spend time studying your cards, their strengths and weaknesses, and how best to use them. Be sure to play in the Boot Camp rounds and the Practice rounds so that you can test out new strategies. Later, you’ll be able to use those strategies against real-life players.
