Grepolis is a veteran of the browser-game MMO scene, but now InnoGames has brought their hit to the iOS platform, with an identical Android version coming out very soon (at the time of this writing) as well. Grepolis is set in the Age of Antiquity, much like Spartan Wars. Like many MMO strategy games, your goal is to load up on resources, train your troops, attack surrounding villages and try to avoid getting destroyed when other armies attack you. Read on for some tips and tricks for Grepolis for iOS and Android!
Very quickly after you begin the game, you’re going to run out of quests to complete. Quests are a great way to gain resources such as wood, silver, food and stone, but once they run out, you’ll run out quickly. Your best bet until then is to avoid upgrading anything else (aside from what you have to upgrade for the quests), spend all of your resources to upgrade your Timber Mine, Silver Mine, Farm and Quarry, and then let the game sit for awhile so you can build up resources.
After that, then you should have more than enough resources to begin training your troops. Most of the player in this game are new (since accounts are not linked to the browser version of the game), so if you can train your troops faster than other players can, you can easily start quickly using other players as resource-farms, attacking them and demanding resources from them.
Demand resources from your subject villages as often as possible, but use the raids sparingly. If you raid too often, your village residents may revolt, forcing you to expend troops in order to get them back under control.
When choosing which god to pray to, initially stick to ones which offer construction and resource production benefits. Don’t pray to the ones that offer battle benefits, such as Zeus, until you start actively battling frequenty. Then, switch to a battle god, build up your favor, and start using the god’s powers to destroy tougher armies.
Once the game gets a little bit older, look for abandoned cities out on the map, or cities in which it’s obvious that the players who run them haven’t been around in awhile. Attack them as often as possible, using them as auxiliary resource farms, because they will provide no resistance once all their troops are destroyed.
