There’s a ton of endless running games for the iPhone and iPad, and to be honest, Gingerbread Run doesn’t stand out amongst the crowd, but if you really get into it, then before you know it, a couple hours will have passed by, with you not knowing what the heck happened to all that time that you spent playing the game. It’s a simplistic game, with absolutely no nuances, and it’s hard as hell. So like any good iPhone game writer, I’ll try to offer up some tips and tricks, but of course, your actual performance in this game is up to you.
There is no store in this game, so there is no reason to really worry about collecting as many of the candies as possible. Ironically, the more that you worry about collecting the candies, the less of them that you will usually get, because so many of them have a stick of dynamite or a cliff, or some other obstacle sitting in front of them.
So what does this mean to you? It means that if you are trying to go the farthest distance that you possibly can, then you should pretty much ignore the candies and concentrate on avoiding whatever the nearest obstacle is. Also, it means that if you stop focusing on collecting all of the candies to get points, then ironically, you will collect MORE candies and end up with more points, simply because you run farther, therefore you collect more candies.
Make sure to focus on whatever the next obstacle is ahead of you, though. If you don’t then a cliff or an overhang or a turn is likely to sneak up on you and kill your run to a record. So whenever you do either a jump, a slide or a turn, look ahead so that you can see what the next obstacle is that you are going to have to deal with, because the controls are laggy, therefore it’s you that is going to have to compensate if you want to set a running record.
