Guide to Onmyoji – Top Tips, Tricks, Cheats, and Strategies

Onmyoji is a new RPG by NetEase for the iOS and Android platforms, one of their few non-battle arena releases of recent days. You play as the onmyoji Abe no Seimei, back in a time when humans and demons coexisted, and you can summon shikigami, complete quests, earn amulets and jade, read through the manga-esque storyline, and battle against tougher and tougher opponents. Read on for some tips and tricks for Onmyoji!

Jade is the premium currency of the game, and with it you can get the rarest of the shikigami for your team, but being a premium currency, the primary way to get more is to buy it. You can earn plenty of it for free, though. The way to do so is to complete the quests and achievements that the game gives you. Both can give you amulets and jade, so the more that you complete, the quicker you can summon rarer Shikigami.

Get your rewards after you complete the tutorial, then go to the summon menu and use your amulets to load up on shikigami. A simple way to organize them by rarity, and also to make sure to have diverse elementals represented. The exception to that second part is if you know the enemy’s elementals beforehand, and they are loaded up on one, load up on the one that they’re weaker against.

Your onmyoji also affects the performance of your team. You start off with just Seimei, but you can unlock more onmyoji by progressing through the chapters. To do so, you’ll hit the explore area and do the challenges. Equip different amulets to unlock different passive skill sets for your onmyoji as well.

Each of your shikigami can equip up to six souls. You get different bonuses when you equip either two of the same soul, or four of the same soul, but by doing so, you’ll potentially become overloaded on one stat at the expense of other stats, so be careful and weigh the pros and cons, and experiment with how various souls effect your stats.

As you keep playing through the game, you’ll unlock all kinds of different new game modes. Guild, for example, will allow you to team up with a group of players – allowing the game to access your location will enable you to find and join local guilds.
