Hammer Time! is a new iPhone and Android game, a new kind of tower defense game where your only tool to defend your castle from the boulders attacking it is by winding up and swinging a giant hammer, like Croquet and Golf put together. Your goal is to get the highest score possible. Read on for some tips and tricks for Hammer Time!
By holding down on the screen for a very short period of time, you will do a very light hit. Hold down on the screen longer and you will do a harder hit, which is necessary to kill off the larger balls. Hold down on the screen until it automatically swings itself, and the hammer will swing as hard as possible, then loop back around and swing a second time, allowing you to swing it across a larger area.
When you knock out the mine cards full of gold you’ll earn coins, which allow you to buy new types of hammers or other objects, such as candy canes or rods. They all perform the same way; all that they do is change the look of whatever implement it is that you’re swinging around that day. You also can complete quests for coins. You get one quest at a time and when you finish that one, you get another one to do.
The fastest two ways to earn coins are by collecting the free prizes and watching ad videos. You will get a free prize after one minute, then two, then five, etc, but after you collect enough of them it will take several hours or the next one to show up. The video ad links pop up randomly after rounds, and when you watch an ad, you’ll earn a significant amount of coins.
Your castle can withstand three hits. After you get hit three times, no matter what the size of the boulder is, then your round is done. You may need to do a short tap or two in order to back the balls up so that you have enough space to execute a harder hit. A bonus here is that you can line up multiple boulders to get knocked out at the same time with a harder hit and clear the screen out really quickly.
If you do want to make a coin in-app purchase in this game, wait until you get a timed trial of one of the “characters” that you do not yet have. You’ll be able to use it for a few turns. Then you’ll have the option to purchase it. If you choose to buy it, you’ll get a 1,500 coin bonus.
