During races, you can either use the turn buttons to turn your car, or you can drift to auto-turn and to restore your boosts. In most cases, especially when a tight turn is coming up, use the drift button to auto-turn. Your car will follow the line that it needs to automatically, and you’ll make every turn cleanly.

The exception is when you need to go through a time gate. Hit every time gate that you can because you win races by having the most time and lasting as long as possible, so make it through every gate that you can. Having the most time is a guarantee to winning the round, especially in team battles.

Of course, speed is key, too. To be the fastest, you have to use boosts wisely and often. Use them as often as you earn them, and earn as many of them as possible by drifting and simply over time.

When you win races, you’ll earn boxes. Each of these boxes will give you goodies such as Hot Gold and car cards. This is the top way to earn new cars, and for the cars that you already have, you can upgrade them to increase their stats and make races easier.

Having new cars is important not just for collection purposes, but each car has a specific type – i.e. muscle, experimental, sport, truck, or racing. Each car also has completely different stat mixes, so use the car that fits your style the most.

The five stats are top speed, acceleration, handling, nitro time, and nitro power. The nitro stats are arguably the most important because of how important nitro is in each race in general. Handling is possibly the least important because of how overpowered the drift function is in this game.

For big rewards, hit the challenges. You can unlock them when you’re ready to let the timer wind down. Challenges will have specific perimeters, such as muscle car only, or you’ll have to do something different to win compared to the standard races, so when you get bored of the standard team mode and want to play a new game mode, take up the challenges.
