Iron Desert is a new Clashalike for the iOS and Android platforms. Many elements are unique to this game, though – for example, the layouts of the bases are, as are the strategies used in this desert/military-themed game. Your goal is to build your base into a powerhouse that is impossible to penetrate, all the while becoming a beast who can destroy any base you come across. Read on for some tips and tricks for Iron Desert!
Diamonds are the premium currency of this game, and the first thing that the diamonds should be saved for is to buy more builders. You start the game (after the tutorial) with two builders, but you can have quite a few more. Three is good, four is enough, and five is enough for VERY hardcore players who play nonstop. Decide which you are and how many diamonds you’ll need to support your habits.
To get the diamonds, clear out all of that desert stuff, such as Joshua trees, cacti and rocks. Each thing that you clear out will give you diamonds as a reward. Wait for some time, too, and watch it grow back, then clear it out again. Complete the various Game Center achievements to earn some free diamonds, and experience points, as well.
When attacking other players, look for specific cues to be able to tell whether gold and oil are kept in the storages or in the gold mine and oil rig. At higher levels, you can figure out which bases are abandoned by which ones have the most trees and rocks strewn about. The dirty ones are the ones which are no longer attended to and will have resources stuck in the mines and oil rigs.
As far as your own base goes, since players can attack from the lower left side, place your oil and gold buildings, and your headquarters, as close to the upper right side of your base as you can. Protect them by maximizing your defenses (gun turrets, mortars etc), and placing them so that their range is as all-encompassing as possible with regards to your important buildings.
Land mines can majorly mess up your tank, as can bombs, but luckily you can see them before you trip them. Use your guns to destroy them if you want to have an easier time getting past them. Wait and see what your tanks and other vehicles are driving towards, and shoot the ones that end up in their way.
