Juanito Arcade Mayhem is a new arcade-style game for the iOS and Android platforms where your goal is go into other videogames, which are based off of real life games such as Tetris, Arkanoid, and Candy Crush Saga, and rescue them from the alien infections that have taken them over and are threatening to destroy them. You start off with a gun taken from a “space earthworm” (Earthworm Jim?) and can upgrade your weapons, pick up power-ups, and progress through tougher and tougher levels and game modes. Read on for some tips and tricks for Juanito Arcade Mayhem!
One of the most important things to remember as you get into tougher stages is that it’s better to dodge than it is to shoot. Shooting will often be your defense, as is the case in the Tetris-esque game when a wall of pieces is falling on you, but when you have an enemy that takes multiple shots to kill that’s closing in on you or you have impenetrable blocks or candies that are about to smash you, dodge. Use the dash/slide button to speed your dodging up.
Shortly into the game you’ll get the ability to play in the survival mode, which is the endless mode. This contains a combination of all of the sub-videogames that Juanito can play in as part of the regular levels. These get difficult VERY quickly, but they make amazing practice for unlocking the Old School difficulty level in the future. And if you get far enough into the survival mode, then harder levels become easy by comparison.
Another great use for the survival mode is racking up coins; you earn FAR more of them here than you earn in the standard levels. Generally, you very rarely earn coins in the standard levels, only earning them on rare occasions such as when you complete a world. In the survival mode, though, you’ll earn quite a few of them in a short period of time. Especially remember to pick up the moneybags, as these contain multiple coins.
Your main use of coins is for upgrading your power-ups. You can’t upgrade your lives, although you can pick up more of them by picking up the “GETALIFE” box whenever you see it drop in the middle of a level. You start off with four lives, but you can have more than four at a time by picking up a life box when you already have four of them. This is especially important in the survival mode, as you’ll need all of the lives that you can get.
You can unlock more power-ups by completing levels in the story mode and earning enough stars. You can also move on to the next world as long as you have enough stars to do so, even if you haven’t beaten every single level yet. To earn more stars, you can go back to old levels and try to beat them again with higher scores. Put together large combos to get the largest scores, so that you can earn three stars.
