Marginalia Hero is a weird new mobile RPG for the iOS and Android platform that puts a new spin on the whole “medieval RPG” concept by featuring actual medieval paintings as the heroes and the villains. Of course, this results in some truly bizarre characters.
Aside from the paintings, you also have to tap with the timer in order to make enough hits to defeat the enemy and move onto the next one. You earn coins along the way, which can then be used for power-ups, new weapons and shields, boosts, and more.
Read on for some tips, tricks, hints, cheats, and strategies for Marginalia Hero!
Early on in the game, it’s easy enough to tap all of the targets and hit them to knock out the enemy, but as you move onto later levels, you’ll have to deal with moving targets, smaller targets, disappearing targets, and other annoying obstacles.
With the disappearing ones, keep your eyes on where the target’s last location was before you tap it. With the steadily moving targets, follow their patterns and take your time – there is no penalty for waiting longer to tap, so no rush.
With the targets that move as soon as you’re over them, you’re almost guaranteed to die once or twice before you get used to them, but they’ll always do the same movement, so just watch them and remember where they move to, and resist the temptation to tap before they move.
You earn coins as you play the game, and one of the uses of them can be spent on weapons, shields, and companions. Weapons potentially increase your damage per successful attack, shields can potentially increase defense so that you take less damage every time you tap incorrectly, and companions give you some kind of buff, such as larger targets or slower cursors.
With weapons and shields, don’t buy new ones until you unlock rarer or higher-level ones; if you buy one with the same rarity that you already have, chances are you won’t get a real boost out of it. With companions, it doesn’t matter since their boosts are not numerical.
Some companions can also be unlocked by watching ad videos, so if you don’t have any coins to spend, just get an internet connection and watch five ad videos, or however much is required per specific companion.
While it can be tempting to spend your money on boosts, don’t do it or your coins will go away fast with nothing to show for it in the future, unless you really need help beating a tough level. Save coins for better weapons, armor, or companions.
Aside from level-based mode, the other game mode is the endless mode, known as the Royal Tournament. Your goal here is to get the highest score by tapping as many targets as possible, and you’ll see far more difficult targets here than in the level-based mode. So use this as a preview of what’s to come in the Great Journey mode.
