When you first begin the game, you will be prompted to choose whether to aim automatically or manually. Even if you choose to aim automatically, you can still override the automatic aiming system by aiming manually when you fire. Often times you’re going to do this when the Auto targeting is making strange choices, or when you’re trying to shoot down projectiles.

You have a primary and a secondary weapon, no matter which character you use, and your secondary weapon will always do more damage than your primary weapon. Be sure to use your secondary weapon as frequently as you can, especially against bosses and against larger enemies that can take a lot of damage.

If you want to grind for equipment, coins, experience, and other prizes, and perhaps you’re stuck on the current level, then you can go back to any level that you have previously beaten and play it again. These levels will seem much easier because you’re typically going to be playing them with upgraded weapons and more characters than you did the first time you beat them.

After you beat level 2–3, you will unlock many other game modes, such as Hot Pursuit, which is a roguelike mode, and the ability to get rare, epic, legendary, and mythic weapons. As you beat more levels you will unlock even more things such as the shop, the ability to upgrade your deer and find rarer gear and accessories, and a whole whole lot more.

Different weapons have different attack characteristics, so just because a weapon has A higher power rating or is more rare, doesn’t mean that it necessarily should always be your weapon. Machine guns fire single shots that target one enemy, for example, while flame throwers and bazookas do splash damage to multiple enemies. Pick your weapon based on the characteristics you enjoy the most, as well as what works for the level and challenge that you are currently playing.

Ruby and sapphires are the two main types of currency in the game. Sapphires are the more common of the two, while rubies are the rare one. You can exchange rubies for sapphires in the store, but not the other way around. The primary way to get rubies is to purchase them in the store for real money, although there are various tasks within the game that can get you free rubies as well.

Be sure to participate in as many of the limited time events as you can. Generally, they present a more difficult challenge than the standard events, but the rewards will be far better and often far more exclusive. Even if you’re at a fairly low level with weak equipment, you should still attempt to participate in every challenge.
