MLB.com Home Run Derby (iOS): How to get free tickets, free MLBucks and coins

MLB.com Home Run Derby, colloquially known as MLB Home Run Derby, is a 3D home run hitting simulation sponsored by MLB.com and providing some of the most realistic physics on the (surprisingly crowded) list of home run hitting games for the iPhone or Android. Tickets are used to play in each of the home run derbies in this game. Coins are the main form of currency in the game, while MLBucks are the premium currency. Both currencies are used to buy more upgrades, but MLBucks can buy more players and premium upgrades compared to coins. Read on to find out how to get more of all three!

Mainly, you can get free tickets by waiting for the game to regenerate them in time. Or you can buy tickets for 2,500 coins apiece (which is way overspending). Cheat instead by setting the time on your phone or device ahead in the device’s date and times settings. If you run out of tickets, then setting the phone ahead by about 11 hours should do it for more tickets. If you only need one ticket, then setting it ahead by 3-4 hours should do.

MLBucks are needed for new players, but they’re fairly tough to come upon. You can get them mostly by participating in each of the home run derbies and placing in at least fourth place. The higher you place in each derby, the more MLBucks you win as a reward. This is the only way to win more MLBucks in the game, aside from buying them in the app store.

To get more more coins quickly, you can play the home run derby, but you earn even more coins by playing in the arcade mode instead. Even better, the arcade mode does NOT use tickets, so you can play it as frequently as you want to with no limitations and no time cheats, and in the arcade mode, your score counts for coins. In both modes, your longest homer and your total home runs count towards the total coins that you earn, but your score increases from all hits, not just home runs.

Maximize your score by attempting to aim home runs at the 2x, 3x and other multiplier signs in the outfield, and by minimizing swinging strikes and foul balls. Swinging strikes and foul balls are worth nothing, but if you make an out by hitting a fly ball into the outfield or into the infield, you still earn points for distance.
