Before you do anything else, you need to know how to build a strong deck and to manage it properly. The first key to building your deck is getting as many card packs as possible. Hoard card packs and load up on players.
You can do this in many different ways, including the draft after you win games and the card pack store. In the store, you can watch ad videos for free card packs in the Special Card Pack area, or you can spend credits for Epic Prime, Epic Prime Foil, Rare, Ultra Rare, and Epic Packs.
When you’re ready to set your deck, the quickest way to do so is to go to the card pack management area and hit Auto-Deck to automatically put the strongest cards in each position. The positions will generally match if you do this – if you play a card out of position, they’ll take a point deficit when you play them during a match.
However, sometimes if you have exceedingly rare cards loaded into one position, and you have common cards in every other position, you can actually get a point advantage by playing some of your rare cards out of position. The only way to figure out what works best is to experiment and build your team on a case-by-case basis.
Hit the deck editor if you want to upgrade your current cards, as well. If you have duplicates of a player, you can combine the cards to turn the player Pro, boosting their stats. You can also level up cards by sacrificing your unneeded cards. Make sure that you only spend cards that you won’t need at any point in the future.
Generally, you’re mostly going to want to save upgrades for your rare cards, but early on, save a few training level-ups for your best in-position common cards. A few level-ups can put their stats high enough to mean the difference between an easy win and taking a loss.
For game modes, quick game is simple. All that you have to do is put cards up that match the highlighted stat in order to win each individual battle. Get the high score at the end, and you win.
Reigning Threes is a more complex tournament where you and the opposing player do multiple three-on-three rounds, and whoever has the highest score at the end is the winner. You’ll need a large deck for this one, as many players get used throughout.
You’ll see the highlighted stats when you’re on the offensive side, but the stats for the defensive side will appear as “????”. You’ll see the stats when the game is being played though, and they’re the same for each defensive crew, so memorize what stats apply to what position to have the best possible shot of winning the defensive rounds.
You’ll earn Crowns each time you win the Reigning Threes, and you can then spend them in the R3 store. It takes awhile to earn the crowns that you need in order to get the card packs, but save them up for the rarest card packs and you’ll get a huge edge in other game modes.
2 on 2 is similar to Quick Game, except that you and another player will face off against two other players. Strategies are similar here; all that you can do is make sure that your deck is as strong as it can be.
The Champions tournament has a similar mode of play to the Reigning Threes, where you build teams consisting of bigs, wings, and ball handlers, but you also have Champion Challenges that you can complete, which can add stat boosts to your team. If you do enter the Champions tournament, complete as many challenges as possible to give yourself the biggest advantage that you can.
How exactly do I combine my duplicates? Every time I tap the combine button it tells me that no cards are valid.
