Plants vs Zombies 2: Get more keys and plant food

In Plants vs Zombies 2, you go through many different levels, defeating zombies using your plants, which double as warriors, so that they don’t get to your lawnmowers, or get to your house. Keys allow you to open the locks on the map, which allow you to unlock bonuses such as new plants, more plant food and all of that jazz. Plant food, of course, allows you to uncork the full power of your plants, at least for about 10 seconds. Read on to find out how to get more keys and plant food!

Keys: To get more keys, play through more levels, be they new levels or ones that you have already beaten before, until you find more keys. Keys will be dropped at random by various zombies throughout the levels. It doesn’t matter which zombies you kill, as they generally all have the same chance of dropping a key. It doesn’t happen often, though, so keep your eyes peeled for when they do drop. The more you play, the more keys you’ll find.

Generally, you’re going to find more keys in new levels; however, there is also a chance that you’ll find keys in levels that you have already beaten, that you decide to play over again. Play levels over and over and eventually a key will drop at some point. You’ll need to replay levels in order to get enough keys to find ALL of the bonuses.

Beating the Yeti gives you a fairly high chance of getting a key, as well. You’ll always get big bonuses once you beat the Yeti, so it will either be a key, or something else such as a ton of coins. NOTE: Keys don’t transfer from one world (I.E. Ancient Egypt) to the next.

Plant food drops from the zombies, just as the keys do, and it drops with far more frequency as well. When a zombie has a glow around it, that means that it is carrying plant food, so kill it, and plant food will drop. You can only pick up the plant food if you have one empty slot. You can carry plant food over from one level to the next.

Now, to increase your maximum plant food level, use the keys you get to start unlocking the hidden areas. You’ll be able to see what the bonus is beforehand, so save your keys until you know that you have found the right bonus.
