Pokemon Masters: Finding Legendary and Mythical Pokemon and Their Trainers

Pokemon Masters is the latest Pokemon game for mobile platforms, focusing on Sync Pairs, which are the combination of a trainer and their signature Pokemon. Much of the inspiration for this is pulled from the Anime, as well as from many of the games.

With so many trainers from so many sources here, you can bet that there is going to be a number of legendary and mythical Pokemon, as well as trainers who follow them in the future. We’ll tell you the when, the where, and the how, and possibly the why.

Being that Pokemon Masters is a brand new game, there is a fairly limited list of trainers to find, but being that this is a Gacha game (even if it’s a very high-quality version of one), there are still plenty of trainers that are going to be added to the game in the future, including their Pokemon.

One of the bigger questions facing fans who are waiting for Legendary and Mythical Pokemon is who their trainers are going to be. Some legendary Pokemon have anime-based trainers – for example, Eusine is a trainer from the anime who has focused his life around catching Suicune, so you can bet that when Suicune shows up, it will be as part of a Sync Pair with Eusine.

For others, though, there is less clarity. Zapdos, for example, has no trainers in the series; the closest thing is the Zapdos master trainer out of the Pokemon Let’s Go franchise. If the devs decide to take inspiration from the series, then expect to see this guy given a name. If not, they might just make up a new trainer for him.

For specific legendaries, like the Alola Guardian Deity series (or for OG Red/Blue fans, the “Pokegods”, heh), there is no prayer of them coming with an actual trainer based off of anything specific in the game, except for one possibility.

That would be alternate-rarity version of other Alola trainers – think how superhero games will stick a ton of different outfits and rarities into the game for the same superhero. This is one possibility as far as a way to get them into the game.

The same thing can be assumed for mythical types, like Celebi or Mew from the earlier generations, or Meltan and Melmetal for recently released mythical Pokemon. Considering that Ash caught a Meltan in the anime, though, one might expect to see an alternate-rarity version of Ash synced to Meltan, or even Professor Willow from Pokemon Go.

So when will the legendaries and mythicals show up? Right now, this early on in the life of the game, nothing has been announced yet, but the key is to look at the track record of the biggest Pokemon games. In doing this, it’s fairly easy to figure it out.

The history of Pokemon GO is fairly indicative of this. Later on in the life of the game, they added Legendaries as something that you could catch in special ways – by completion Field Research and Special Research, and winning raid battles. Pokemon Masters already has cooperative game modes, so it’s easy to imagine some form of raid battles being added later on down the line.

Mobile Pokemon variants are NOT short on limited-time events, so keep an eye out for events to show up with various mythical and legendary Pokemon (and sync pairs) attached to them. Then expect that same sync pair to disappear for awhile once the event is done, but eventually show back up again later, like in Pokemon GO.
