Star Trek Rivals (iOS) Tips and Tricks Guide: Hints, Cheats and Strategies

Star Trek Rivals is a new card battling game for the iPhone, iPad and other iOS devices. It’s not a card battling RPG, though – instead, it’s a simple but addicting game that you play back and forth with rivals, similar to Zynga’s “With Friends” series. You play on a board with nine squares, with a number on each side of each card, and if your number is higher than the adjacent card’s number, then you turn that card (if it is your rival’s card) into your card. Your goal is to have more cards that are your color (blue) than are your rival’s color (red). Read on for some tips and tricks to beat hard rivals in Star Trek Rivals!

Your goal isn’t to get every single card on the board in your color, it’s only to have more cards of your color than your rival does of their color. Resist the temptation to try to take the rival’s card every time they put one down. Instead, spread your cards around the board so that they can’t change all of your card’s colors at once. Play on the defense.

Place the sides with the lower numbers against the wall, if at all possible, so that the rival can’t take your card using the weak sides. Or, place the weak sides against the strong side of a rival’s card. Additionally, a way to guarantee that your card will never have its color changed is to place it in between two walls and two rival cards.

To maximize the amount of credit and experience points you earn, simply play against as many random opponents as possible. You can also connect the game to either Facebook or Game Center, even if you are only playing as a guest, and invite friends to play against you, but playing against tons of random rivals is the fastest way to progress.

As you build up credits and latinum, go to the Shop tab under the menu button and use your latinum and credits to buy new card packs. The more expensive the card pack, the better your chances will be of getting more powerful cards. And when you have seven of the same card, you can upgrade a card to increase its numbers and give yourself an even better shot at winning.
