If you have either cash or gold, go browsing through the store to see what draft picks you can afford. The higher the draft pick package, the better their stats will be, so if you have a lot of gold or cash to spend, spend them on fewer, better draft picks rather than more, weaker draft picks. The game will automatically put the best players on your team.

Cash can also buy you other boosts besides players. Go to the store and then go to the upgrades tab to purchase hitting coaches, base coaches, trainers, pitching coaches and more. The upgrades are permanent and will affect every single player on your roster, enabling them to pitch and hit better. The upgrade is proportionate to their stats, so the higher the stats of the affected player, the more effective the upgrade will be.

Franchise players are the ones who are insanely good, who you can rent for a short period of time. Think David Ortiz, Albert Pujols and the like. A franchise coin will allow you to rent one for five games apiece, and when they bat, if your swing is anywhere near accurate, you’re hitting a double or a home run. Use this as early on as possible when your team is still not that great. This will give you a huge competitive advantage.

If one batter hits a single, then the other batter hits a double, the third base runner will be prompted to either stay at third or run for home. You’ll make the run for home almost every time. However, if the first batter hits a double and the second batter hits a single, then it’ll be less likely for the runner on third to score.

The key to winning, above all things, is knowing when to swing and when to take. Lay off of balls, and lay off of curveballs in general, unless you face a pitcher who throws curveballs for strikes most of the time. Then, time the curveball and take a swing at the right time and you’ll hit it hard.
